“I have had a disappointing result and need to work out how to move forward differently."
For professional accountancy, tax and finance students who have experienced an exam setback and are finding it difficult to know what to do next.
A disappointing result can affect much more than your study plan. It can knock your confidence; make you question your ability and leave you wondering whether all the time and effort you put in was worth it.
You may find yourself wondering:
- Where did I go wrong?
- How do I stop myself from repeating the same mistakes?
- What do I actually need to do differently next time?
- How do I start studying again when my confidence has taken a knock?
- How do I move forward without putting even more pressure on myself?
The Bouncing Back After Exam Setbacks Pathway is designed to help you reflect on what has happened, rebuild your confidence and approach your next steps with greater clarity.
What you get
- Bouncing Back After Exam Setbacks on-demand course
- 60-minute private session with Edel, booked after you complete the course
- Seven-day follow-up in writing to help you reflect on what you have started to put into practice
How it works
You complete the on-demand course first.
The course gives you the opportunity to step back from the immediate disappointment of an exam setback and look more constructively at what has happened.
It supports you in reflecting on your experience, recognising unhelpful thinking that may have followed the result, rebuilding confidence and considering what may need to change before your next attempt.
Then you meet privately with Edel for 60 minutes.
Because you have already completed the course, the session can focus on your experience, your concerns and what will help you move forward from here.
You might look at:
- what you have learned from your previous exam experience
- what may need to be different in your next preparation period
- how the result has affected your confidence
- unhelpful thoughts or beliefs that may be making it harder to move forward
- how to approach your next sitting without allowing fear of another setback to take over
- how to rebuild momentum after disappointment
- how to create a healthier and more realistic approach to your next period of study
The session is focused on the areas that are most relevant to you at that point.
Seven-day follow-up
Seven days after your private session, Edel will follow up with you in writing.
This gives you an opportunity to reflect on what has shifted, what you have started to put into practice and what you want to keep focusing on as you move forward.
Is this for you?
The Bouncing Back After Exam Setbacks Pathway may suit you if you have recently received a disappointing exam result or if a previous setback is still affecting how you feel about your next sitting.
You may be frustrated, disappointed or worried that the same thing will happen again. You may also be unsure whether you need to change your study approach, your mindset, or both.
You do not need to have worked out exactly what went wrong before you start.
The aim is to help you take something useful from the experience, rebuild confidence and move towards your next exam sitting with greater clarity about what you want to do differently.
